For the first project of the semester, students created Zentangles. This was a chance for students to learn about value, color and pattern. Students made color wheels in their sketchbooks using only primary colors to make all of the colors on the wheel. Students drew a "string" that connected back to the border on their page and then began to fill in each spot with something different to create a unique design. This is a great project to assess student knowledge and interest at the beginning of a class.
